A business enterprise that harnesses technology with beauty and talent is taking a step further to promote its products to APEC delegates at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby.

Banaba Boutique Ltd had the opportunity to showcase its products to APEC delegates, particularly women, when setting up their small and medium enterprise (SME) booth at the Gateway hotel.

The firm's Managing Director Genrose Mbiki Nnko said their booth attracted many female delegates because their firm is naturally women-oriented. "We became very serious in business when we realized our unique talent, skills and beautiful resources with cultural artifacts that attract delegates from the Asia-Pacific region. We try to be innovative and creative in capabilities surrounding us," Nnko said.

The business name 'Banaba' means beautiful women in Nnko's language in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea. They create and sell products they think are attractive to women, together with a variety of bilum products designed in various PNG colors.

Bilums in the past were locally made by Papua New Guineans for personal use or for cultural uses only but it has now been promoted internationally through various means. Nnko was grateful the opportunity to showcase her firm and thanked the APEC SME Team who assisted in getting her products displayed in such an international event like APEC. Less than fifty Papua New Guinean SME products and services are being showcased during the 1st Senior Officials' Meeting and Related Meetings around meeting venues in Port Moresby.
