Chinese Taipei shares experience on creating better entrepreneur

The 38th APEC Electronic Commerce Steering Group (ECSG) meeting has provided economies with experiences in e-commerce to share their ideas to develop Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with member economies.

The 38th APEC Electronic Commerce Steering Group (ECSG) meeting has provided economies with experiences in e-commerce to share their ideas to develop Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with member economies.

The ECSG meeting is part of cluster of meetings in the Third APEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM3) currently underway in Port Moresby.

Assistance Secretary for Trade Development and Promotion Branch of the Department of Commerce and Trade, Mr Raphael Uranguai said Chinese Taipei has provided greater pathway for SMEs to expand by sharing their experiences on creating better entrepreneur.

Chinese Taipei has developed a concept of supporting SME’s with a startup capital whilst facilitating performance improvements and business growth for SMEs.

Mr Uranguai whilst acknowledging Chinese Taipei for inviting PNG to a two-day “Idea show” in July said that the show gave representatives from PNG opportunities to observe how Chinese Taipei supports SMEs to grow.

The idea derived from Chinese Taipei would now be put together as a submission to Government for adoption, which will greatly benefit local SME’s in Papua New Guinea to grow their businesses and be self-reliance.

“We have learnt a lot from the visit to the Idea SHOW and how brought back experiences gained to develop SMEs in PNG.

“It was a great concept and we have a firm believe supporting SME’s in the country through such connectivity with other APEC economies on free trade and investment would pave way forward for our local people to be self-reliance, said Uranguai.
